So, about a year ago I started diving into the depths of LiveJournal to find all the old McShep fic. I quickly realized that there was a lot more than I knew existed, back when the fandom was active. That lead me to start collecting all the various communities and journals.
Eventually, it was apparent that AO3 only held a fraction of the originals. So, I started pulling links into a massive spreadsheet.
Squidgie and randomnumber5 agreed to help me (because they are awesome) and we've now collected close to 30,000 fics (including all of the Wayback Wraithbait links and most of Area 52) but we've still only just scratched the surface.
Once we've built this thing, it can be maintained through a basic submission form. I also plan to approach a couple of fandom nonprofits about holding partial ownership (that way it doesn't disappear if I do).
Right now, it is just a spreadsheet but, like any dataset, it can be turned into all kinds of pretty things.
To do this, we need volunteers.
Biggest asks right now:
1. Finding and submitting stories/art/etc.
2. Checking links and saving/pulling existing wayback saves
3. Filling-in the spreadsheet info columns
